Rameswaram

'By visiting holy places and knowing the myth, divinity and effect of the place, not only self purification and welfare is attained but also devotion at the lotus feet of the lord is felt easily.'
--H.H. Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji, while camping at Kumbh Nagar, Prayag-2001

2500+ years ago Sri Adi Sankara Bhagwatpada at an early age of only 32 years traveled all over the country, removed the state of confusion and chaos prevailing in the nation at that time, with the establishment of Advaita Philosophy and Vedic Sanatana Dharma. The entire nation was integrated in one and the religious and cultural unity established by him is still prevailing and shall prevail for all times to come.

To understand the integrated Indian civilization, culture, Sanatana Dharma and philosophy in detail, the Darshan of holy places and to recognize the noble acts of our ancestors is the utmost prime and important responsibility of us, else the knowledge of life and Karma shall remain incomplete. Religious holy cities have an important role to understand the depth of Sanatana Dharma.

In order to maintain the unity and national integration Sri Adi Sankara Bhagwatapada made strenuous efforts to reimbibe these holy cities and inspired all Indians to undertake pilgrimage to these holy cities. Despite vivid language and culture the Sanatana Dharma revived by Sri Adi Sankara is a source of inspiration for a man to rise above individual vested interest and realize his duties for other and upliftment of mankind, through which self purification, divinity and salvation can be attained.

Varanasi whose spiritual name is 'Kashi' is the abode of Lord Siva - Kashi Vishwanath along with Goddess Annapurna and Vishalakshi. The residents of Kashi are always blessed by this TRINITY. The uttarvahini Ganga flowing across the city sacraments all and one there. Amongst the Sapta mokshapuris Kashi is one which imparts moksha to all beings. It is said that Lord Viswanath himself preaches the Tarak Mantra and imparts Moksha/salvation to all beings who attain death in the vicinity of KASHI. Kashi has an important place in the Sanatana Dharma. The followers of Sanatana Dharma visit Kashi at least once in their lifetime and remember their ancestors there and get themselves blessed.

His Holiness Pujyasri Chandrashakera Saraswati Shankaracharya Swamiji of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth paid His maiden visit to Varanasi in 1934.
